Guangzhou, China – September 16, 2024 – Uganda has emerged victorious at the China International Tourism Industry Expo 2024 (CITIE 2024), securing the coveted “Best Organiser Award” for its outstanding presentation of the nation’s tourism potential. The award, presented during the expo’s closing ceremony on September 15th, recognizes the exceptional efforts of the Ugandan Embassy in Beijing and the Ugandan Consulate General in Guangzhou.
Held in Guangzhou from September 13th to 15th, CITIE 2024 served as a global platform for showcasing tourism destinations and services. Uganda’s vibrant display, highlighting its rich cultural heritage, diverse wildlife, and breathtaking natural landscapes, captivated the attention of thousands of attendees, including Chinese tourists and potential investors.
The Ugandan Consulate General’s innovative exhibits and strategic initiatives were pivotal in securing the prestigious award. Consul-General Judyth Nsababera expressed her delight and emphasized the significance of the achievement. “This award underscores the consulate’s unwavering commitment to excellence and our role in positioning Uganda as a premier destination for both travellers and investors,” she stated. “It solidifies Uganda’s reputation on the international stage.”
The Consulate’s exceptional performance was further acknowledged with an invitation to co-organize next year’s CITIE expo, a testament to their effective promotion of Uganda’s tourism industry.
CITIE 2024, spanning a 40,000 square meter exhibition area, attracted 43,000 visitors, featuring 100 destinations and 500 tourism service providers from over 50 countries and regions. Uganda’s success within this large scale event demonstrates the countries growing influence within the global tourism industry.
