13 September 2024 – Uganda Airlines announced the launch of its new route to Abuja, Nigeria, significantly expanding its network and boosting regional connectivity. The airline will operate two weekly flights, on Thursdays and Sundays, using its state-of-the-art Airbus A330-800neo aircraft.
This expansion marks a pivotal moment for Uganda Airlines, as it establishes its second destination in Nigeria and the fourteenth overall in its growing network. The move underscores the airline’s commitment to providing efficient and affordable air services, facilitating seamless travel for business, tourism, and leisure across the African continent.

The new service is expected to create vital links between Abuja and East Africa, offering passengers convenient connections to key destinations such as Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Mombasa, Mogadishu, Mumbai, and Dubai. This enhanced connectivity is poised to stimulate economic growth and cultural exchange between Uganda, Nigeria, and other African nations.
Uganda Airlines, re-established in 2019, has rapidly emerged as a key player in the regional aviation sector. As the national carrier of Uganda, it provides scheduled passenger and cargo services within East Africa and to select international markets. Notably, Uganda Airlines has received the prestigious World’s Youngest Aircraft Fleet Award from Chaviation for four consecutive years, from 2020 to 2024, highlighting its commitment to modernizing its fleet and providing a superior travel experience.
